BayOne Solutions
Owner: Rahul Sharma (President)
Owner: Yogesh Virmani (CEO)

Bios: Rahul Sharma and Yogesh Virmani, are the co-founders of BayOne Solutions. Their partnership and collaboration helped them build a remarkable business in the U.S. They knew each other since 1995 and they started their career with the same company: Infocom Digital Systems. However, with their youthful tenacity and yearning for growth, they wanted to build something that could contribute to the talent acquisition niche. This led them to start their first business venture together: a computer manufacturing and IBM franchisee training institute in India.

Thereafter, both of them worked in several large enterprises amassing knowledge and business acumen. While Rahul’s focus was on solving clients’ critical resourcing issues and improving clients’ bottom line by helping them execute their projects on-time, Yogesh focused on building and managing a practice in application development, ERP and forming strong long-term relationships with clients. Even after years, they shared the same interests: Both loved solving problems associated with talent acquisition and automation of legacy processes and liked the uniqueness of the Bay area. This common interest brought them together in 2012 and thus BayOne Solutions was born.

Executive of the Year Contenders

This award recognizes an executive not working directly within Supplier Diversity who ensures that their company allocates resources (financial and otherwise) to WRMSDC and Supplier Diversity in the region
Coming Soon!
Joydeep Ganguly, Senior Vice President, Corporate Operations, Gilead Sciences
Bio: The hallmark that makes Joydeep such an effective leader for MBEs & such a staunch advocate for diversity & inclusion is his emphasis on living out the following three attributes in this leadership approach:
  • Authenticity (i.e., he “trades in authenticity”). What you see is what you get.
  • Curious. Curious about everything. Always reading, learning, pursuing additional schooling.
  • Inclusive. Curious about others’ input and interested in working with all (i.e., non-hierarchical).
He's also easily approachable & regardless of the fact he's an SVP of a large organization, he always takes the time to communicate face to face with anyone regardless of position or years of experience. In other words, he levels the playing field by his actions & not mere words.

Company Bio: At Gilead Sciences, we’re committed to creating a healthier world for everyone – no matter the challenges ahead of us. For more than 30 years,we’ve pursued the impossible, chased it down, tackled it for answers and surrounded it for a way in. We have worked tirelessly to bring forward medicines for life-threatening diseases. Through bold and transformative science, we’re driving innovation that has the potential to become the next generation of life-changing medicines. Our ambition is evident in our mission. Because the impossible is not impossible. It’s what’s next. In addition, building an inclusive and diverse workforce is critical to enabling Gilead’s mission – and, ultimately, will help us create a better, healthier world. We are highly committed to creating an inclusive culture, one that enables all people to do their best work and that is reflective of the diversity of our patients. At the same time, we recognize that we need to do more to accelerate our progress – for our people, for our business and for the world

Fun Fact: I studied in six different countries: Oman, India, Australia, UK (London) & the U.S. Moving schools so many times, in different states in India and in different countries, made me appreciate diversity so much more... and made me appreciate the power of inclusion as I depended on that to adjust.

What is the candidate’s brief words of wisdom for our Minority Entrepreneurs and our diverse community? If you are fortunate enough to break through the barriers & into a business ecosystem that formerly was resistant to MBE's then pay it forward. Take the time & advocate for those MBE's who are still on the margins. This creates a momentum effect that builds & spreads the net of influence & inclusion. Second, never stop believing in yourself & your innate abilities. Every person is endowed with a unique set of competencies & talents, never let that stray from your mind. Last, focus your efforts more on the business impact you can make & less on the social constructs that say you are different. Avoid a victim mentality at all costs & demonstrate your leadership by the body of work you accomplish.

Besides being one of my happiest days (my wedding day), it’s also a big part of me ... the fact that I was able to celebrate it in Indian cultural traditions...Literally everything good that has happened in my life happened after my marriage to Priyanka.

Kathryn Kearney, Director of Curriculum and Certification Development, Google
Bio: Kathryn is a Leader in the Education and Certification space having worked at both Google and AWS. She currently leads a large team at Google Cloud responsible for ideation, creation and launching all training and certification assets.

Company Bio: Digital transformation is more than “lifting and shifting” old IT infrastructure to the cloud for cost saving and convenience. True transformation spans the entire business and enables every person to transform. We deeply understand today's technology requirements and the need to continuously innovate. That's why organizations build their transformation cloud and solve their biggest challenges with Google Cloud.

Fun Fact: Kathryn grew up in Ireland, spent some years in Australia and now lives in Seattle, WA with her family including two white cats.

What is the candidate’s brief words of wisdom for our Minority Entrepreneurs and our diverse community? Keep asking for what you need. Unfortunately, folks around us may not recognize your value initially so keep persisting. Somedays, this will seems hard and others, it'll seem easier but keep going. If not you, then who?

Backpacking with my family is something we do every summer. This always challenges us but makes us stronger, and we get to see parts of the world that we couldn't otherwise.

What is the candidate’s brief words of wisdom for our Minority Entrepreneurs and our diverse community? The biggest advice that I would give aspiring leaders is to work within your gift. It's the thing that you're the best in the world at doing what the least amount of effort. I was raised to be dedicated to seeking out what my passion was, only to have a Steve Harvey inspirational talk come across my YouTube feed, where he spoke about how passion is irrelevant. Passion takes a lot of work; your gift never does. And he's made a couple of statements that your gift will always make room for you. It is the thing you are the best in the world at doing with the least amount of effort. I believe that the next generation of business leaders are going to have to find that gift faster than ever before, because exponentially, all the things you don't control, from finance to technology, your world is going to change 10 times faster than mine ever did. The only way you're going to be able to compensate for that is you're going to have to be on the right path sooner. The faster you fall in line with your gifts, the better off you're going to be.

What is the candidate’s brief words of wisdom for our Minority Entrepreneurs and our diverse community? When I reflect on the richness of my life, the diversity of my relationships is key. Almost all of my opportunities - successful or otherwise - had some sort of encouragement or advocacy that I wasn't even aware of at times. I have seen many others, particularly those who don't look like me, achieve more and excel with much less advantage. I think of my passion as paying it forward in a demographic that doesn't look like me - and giving encouragement and advice based on life and business experience. Helping someone else hopefully helps them feel good, but it also makes me feel good knowing that I am making a difference. And I think we collectively find value for ourselves, for Cisco, for businesses, and for the world.
